PHOENIX (AP) — Chris Paul's return to Phoenix ended in the second quarter on Wednesday night after the 12-time All-Star was ejected by his old nemesis: referee Scott Foster. The Golden State Warriors guard and Foster have a long, acrimonious history, with the point guard complaining about Foster's officiating for nearly a decade. Now Paul says that a years-old issue that involves his son is at least part of the reason for the friction. Foster walked away but Paul kept yelling and the referee quickly turned and gave the point guard another technical, which caused the ejection. Everybody gets frustrated out there, but that’s up to the official.”Warriors team personnel had to get between Paul and Foster before the guard left the court.

An exhausted Jokic had 35 points and 13 rebounds in more than 36 minutes of action to help the Nuggets hold off the Golden State Warriors 108-105 on Wednesday night. “We feel like it’s a good group of guys and we are playing the right way,” Jokic said. Jokic had a chance to wrap it up with 15 seconds left and the Nuggets up 107-105, but missed two free throws. “He approaches the game different game to game," Looney explained. Our guys really competed and gave themselves a chance to win,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.

CNN —Steph Curry scored 50 points for the 11th time in his NBA career, but his efforts weren’t enough for the struggling Golden State Warriors against the Phoenix Suns as the defending champions went down 130-119. The Warriors are now 6-9 on the season and winless from eight games on the road – a troubling sign as the team looks to win a fifth title since 2015. “We’re never going to panic, there’s no point in panicking,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters after Wednesday’s game. ”It’s important to have a team,” Booker said about the even scoring distribution throughout the team. They next visit the Utah Jazz on Friday while the Warriors welcome the New York Knicks.
CNN —Despite Steph Curry scoring a game-high 34 points, the Golden State Warriors suffered their first loss of the season, to the Denver Nuggets on Friday, going down 125-123 to the team they eliminated from the first round of the Western Conference playoffs in April. Curry added five rebounds and four assists to his 34 points on 10-of-22 shooting but could not drag his team to victory in San Francisco. Two free throws from Jokic with 6.6 seconds left took Denver’s lead beyond three points and sealed the victory.
